Mongolian delegates attending UN Commission on Population and Development session

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian delegates led by G.Unurbayar, State Secretary of Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare are attending the 50th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which is taking place on April 3-7 in New York city. The session is themed “Changing population age structures and sustainable development”. In his speech delivered at a general discussion of the session, State Secretary G.Unurbayar mentioned that the government of Mongolia has been carrying out national policy and programs in accordance with decisions issued from United Nations' sessions and conferences on population and development. Then, he introduced some substantial actions being implemented in Mongolia in the scope of the ‘Sustainable Development Program 2030’ in recent years. In particular, State Secretary G.Unurbayar pointed out that the Parliament of Mongolia has made amendments to or adopted laws on child protection, child rights, encouraging youth development and social security of elders and the government's 'Mothers with salary’ program, which has recently put into effect. Concluding his speech, he confirmed that Mongolia is intending to fully realize goals brought forward on a national level within the SDG 2030 and continue implementing the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing of 2002, Action program of an International Conference on Population and Development held in Cairo in 1996.
