MONGOLIAN NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR UNESCO REVIEWS 2017

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO held a meeting to review its activities of 2017 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 01. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the Mongolian National Commission for the UNESCO D.Tsogtbaatar emphasized that developing cooperation with the UNESCO is vital to implement the objectives of Mongolian education, science, culture and information sectors. Last year, the 55th anniversary of Mongolia’s accession to the United Nation was marked. One of the significant event was establishment of a new memorandum of cooperation with the UNESCO which aimed at broadening cooperation further. The Government of Mongolia registered the Landscapes of Dauria in the UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 7, 2017. Mongolian traditional practices of worshipping the sacred sites have been inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding as well. Also, national consultative meeting to realize the ‘Sustainable development goal 4 – education was organized. Mongolian side has been actively cooperating with the International Hydrological Programme and the Man and Biosphere Programme. D.Tsogtbaatar noted in his speech that there is a necessity to boost cooperation in the fields of education, science, information and innovation.
