MONTSAME’S KHUMUUN BICHIG NEWSPAPER CELEBRATES 25TH ANNIVERSARY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ This year, the ‘Khumuun Bichig’ newspaper, published by national news agency MONTSAME, celebrates its 25th anniversary of establishment and 20th anniversary of its ‘Foremost Calligraphers of Mongolia’ national traditional Mongolian script contest. April 28, Friday saw a ceremony to inaugurate a gallery of Traditional Mongolian script at the building of the agency. Displaying the best works of the 20-year-old national contest, the agency aims to establish the gallery as the biggest traditional Mongolian script gallery in the country. During the ceremony, Editor-in-chief of the newspaper B.Elbegzaya and senior staff S.Altantsetseg and S.Tsetsegmaa were presented with State Foremost Artist titles. Editor-in-chief B.Elbegzaya shared, “We’ve contributed to promoting the national script for the last 25 years, publishing 1080 issues”. He added that he has a vision to expand the newspaper into a daily newspaper in the future. In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of its ‘Foremost Calligraphers of Mongolia’ contest, over 40 winners of the contest came from provinces to celebrate and participate in a meeting at the agency building. The ‘Khumuun Bichig’ newspaper is one of the five weekly newspapers published by the MONTSAME agency, alongside the English ‘Mongol Messenger’, Russian ‘Novosty Mongolii’, Chinese ‘Menggu Xiaxi bao’ and Japanese ‘Mongoru Tsuushin’.
