Morocco's new FM speaks to AA
ISTANBUL (A.A) – Morocco's new foreign minister has said that Morocco's Justice and Development Party's (PJD) projects were about political freedoms and social justice.
Speaking to AA correspondent in Istanbul, FM Saad-Eddine El Othmani of PJD said that his party PJD had been the opposition party for 15 years and the party was an experienced one in several matters.
Othmani said that Islamist parties did not intervene in private life of people and their projects were backed by the people.
"Islamists have to act as a political party when they enter political arena. We presented our own projects to the people and they approved them. The people want us to implement projects. Most of them are about political freedoms and social justice. Parties should contribute to development of their countries," he said.
Islamist political parties which were expected to come into the political power in several countries aimed to get rid of political and economic pressure in the region, he said.
"We will remove political pressures and prevent poverty. We will establish social justice against economic crisis," he said.
In regard to some allegations that western countries supported Islamist political parties' coming into the power, Othmani said wind of change in Arab world came from neither the United States nor western countries, but it was a revolution by the will of the people.
Othmani said regarding Turkey's role in the region that Turkey has played a leading role in the region with its political and economic reforms in the past decade. "Its political and economic background affected many people. It is important to preserve honor of the people, secure social justice and economic development," he said.
