M'sia Former PM, Dr Mahathir To Open Al-Muntada Al-Islami's Ninth Annual Convention

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is scheduled to open the Al-Muntada Al-Islami Ninth Annual Multaqa (Convention) 2012 here Monday. He is also expected to give a keynote address entitled, 'Good Governance, Viable Investment Climate, Sound Philosophy' at the three-day convention. In a statement, Al-Muntada Al-Islami Trust chairman Khalid Al-Fawaz said the aim of the annual convention was to appraise Al-Muntada’s activities since its inception, 26 years ago. He said, apart from this, Al-Muntada members, who were currently involved in various businesses and investments, were looking for new business opportunities and long-term business ventures in Malaysia. About 80 foreign delegates, including 28 investors from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Kingdom (UK), Sudan and Egypt, will attend the convention. They are from the property, construction, real estate development, trading, healthcare, oil and gas and transportation sectors, among others. The convention is organised by Al-Muntada, in collaboration with IFP Advisors Group Malaysia, and will begin with business matching programmes today. The Al-Muntada Al-Islami Trust, an independent organisation originally established in the UK to cater for the local community, has several centres worldwide. -- BERNAMA
