M'sia Has Lots Of Perfect Location For International Films

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia continues to become international film makers' choice as it has many interesting places, besides talented actors, a film director from India, Prithiveeraj, said. Prithiveeraj who is the director of OceanNine Production Sdn Bhd, said there were many wonderful beaches in Malaysia that were perfect for filming movies such as Desaru in the southern state of Johor, which is the location of his latest movie, "Zha". "We like to see variety, proud to say Malaysia is the only place in the world you can get everything in one place...you've got beaches, jungles and buildings...everything is closeby," he told Bernama. Prithiveeraj said apart from having various unique locations, the cost of shooting in Malaysia was also very reasonable. "In Malaysia, all points of interest are nearby. For instance, in Kuala Lumpur there are modern buildings like the Kuala Lumpur City Centre for the city scene, and when you want a jungle scene, you have the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia...from there you can save," he said. "Zha" is a film that revolves around the revenge of a woman, featuring local Tamil actress, Sangeeta Krishnasamy as the main actor as well as Kajai Priya. Prithiveeraj said the making of "Zha" cost about RM1.3 million and took only 21 days to complete, with 80 per cent of the film shooting done in Desaru and 20 per cent in Kuala Lumpur. He said OceanNine intended to collaborate with two local film makers, Afdlin Shauki and Harith Iskandar, for their new film titled "Kalyanam" or "Marriage". -- BERNAMA
