MUI To Focus On Moral Improvement Of Muslims
Jakarta, Aug 13 (Antara) - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Chairman Din Syamsuddin expressed his intent to focus on the moral improvement of Muslims to strengthen their economy.
"It is very important to implement moral improvement in order to avoid moral degradation," Din stated while opening the MUI national working meeting here on Wednesday.
He highlighted the fact that the number of organized immoral acts is increasingly getting out of control, and therefore, the Muslims need a fortress to fight them.
"The Muslims need a strategy to uphold morality," Din stated, adding that the divorce rate among Muslims today in Indonesia was on a rise.
"The family is a fortress against immorality, but in reality, it is unable to do it. Therefore, there should be a strategic partnership between the government and MUI to improve the moral values of the citizens," he emphasized.
