Myanmar Armed Forces Chief's visit to Thailand strenthens bilateral relations

BANGKOK, August 30 (TNA) - Myanmar Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing's ongoing visit to Thailand, scheduled for August 28-30, strengthens military ties and cooperation between the two neighboring countries in the ASEAN Community (AC). Thai Armed Forces Chief General Surapong Suwan-ath received his visiting Myanmar counterpart at the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters on the outskirts of Bangkok on Wednesday. The visiting Myanmar commander-in-chief of defence services was scheduled to attend a high-level Thai-Myanmar military meeting, the 5th of its kind, in Khon Kaen Province in the Thai Northeast during his three-day trip to Thailand, aimed to strengthen ties and cooperation between the Thai and Myanmar armed forces for the sake of peace and order, as well as the solution to security and other problems along the Thai-Myanmar border. Before ending his three-day trip to Thailand, the Myanmar commander-in-chief of defence services is also scheduled to pay courtesy calls on Thai state man and former prime minister General Prem Tinsulanonda and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees national security.
