NATIONAL LITERACY FESTIVAL TO BE CELEBRATED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ 'National Literacy Festival-2018' will be held nationwide on May 01-06, 2018. In accordance with the decree number 105 by the President of Mongolia in 2003 and to honor mother tongue and promote the national script 'National Literacy Festival' is annually organized. The Festival under the slogan 'National Literacy-Independence' will be co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, Department of Culture and Arts, The National Library of Mongolia, National Council on Language Policy, National University of Mongolia, 'Bichig Soyol' education center, Statehood History Museum of Mongolia and local libraries and educational and cultural organizations of the aimags. Within the 'National Literacy Festival', academic conferences on Mongolian language and cultural researches, a series of exhibitions displaying Mongolian literacy history, meetings and discussions between readers and scholars and promotion activities of scientific papers on literacy will be jointly organized by the Ulaanbaatar city's library, universities and primary schools. Morever national literacy competition, national Olympiad on traditional Mongolian script and calligraphy competitions will be held nationwide in order to promote the traditional script and patriotism.
