National Workshop on Application Effect of Conservation Agriculture Held

Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- The National Workshop on Application Effect of the Conservation Agriculture in the DPRK was held at the Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute of the Academy of Agricultural Science on Aug. 30 and 31. Present there were officials and researchers of the Academy of Agricultural Science, ministries, national institutions, scientific research and education institutes and other relevant fields and the Swedish ambassador to the DPRK, the UN resident coordinator and UNDP resident representative in the DPRK and other staff members of the missions of international organizations such as the European Union Programme Support. The speakers said introducing the conservation agriculture has become a current world trend to improve the agricultural and ecological environment and increase the agricultural production. They expressed belief that the national workshop would mark a significant occasion in discussing the successes and experience gained in the studies of conservation agriculture and its application. They explained the issues of protecting land and making the best use of it in putting the agricultural production on a scientific and intensive basis. -0-
