Need For A Third Port In Port Klang Still Being Studied, Says Minister

SEPANG (Malaysia), Jan 13 (Bernama) -– A Hong Kong-based consultant company is conducting a study on the need to build a third port at Port Klang, Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha said Thursday. He said the company was appointed by the Port Klang Authority (PKA) to study the need of a new port to complement the existing Northport and Westport in the next 20 to 30 years. "Whether there is a need or not, the study is still in the process," he told reporters after the official welcoming ceremony for Emirate’s A380 at the KL International Airport (KLIA) here Thursday. Asked on whether the Port Klang Cruise Centre (PKCC) would be converted into the third port, Kong declined to comment. Northport and Westport connect over 300 ports worldwide and are ranked among the world’s top 20. --BERNAMA
