NIHR hails Family Courts Complex

Manama, Jan. 25 (BNA): National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Chairperson, Maria Khoury, has asserted that allocating a special building for family courts will achieve the required privacy and confidentiality through distancing family disputes from the judicial buildings allocated for criminal and misdemeanor cases. While attending the opening ceremony of the Family Courts Complex, held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), the NIHR chief affirmed that the honourable national achievement will enhance Bahrain’s distinguished status and place it among advanced and civilised countries. The milestone has been achieved thanks to HM King Hamad’s keenness on supporting the role of the Bahraini family and its main component –woman, as one of the pillars of the Royal Reform Project, and as a result of the efforts of HRH Princess Sabeeka’s efforts in support of women’s issues for the sake of promoting a stable society that gives the family the status it deserves, Khoury said. The Family Courts Complex adds to the kingdom’s achievements, and places it among countries that support human rights and freedoms, she added. The NIHR chief stressed that the move proves the kingdom’s keenness on providing a legislative umbrella that protects the Bahraini family and ensures its stability, in line with the provision of the Constitution, according to which it is the basis of society, and is based on religion, morals and love of the nation.
