NIHR statement on recent security operation casualties

Manama, May 25 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights has expressed deep concern about the results of the recent security operation that left 31 casualties on the police side and the death of a number of outlaws, which targeted the removal of barricades that hindered the movement of citizens, disrupted their interests and posed a risk to their safety.
The NIHR, in a statement, praised the security efforts to enforce the law through arresting 286 outlaws and convicts wanted in terror cases who posed a threat to the national security. Stressing that human rights cannot be protected without the rule of law.
The statement condemned violence that targets citizens and security personnel' lives, which is absolutely rejected.
It called on all parties to exercise restraint and shoulder national responsibility to preserve national gains and constants, promote values of tolerance, justice, the rule of law and respect for human rights, as well as avoiding deepening hatred and division and standing against violence.
It called for stepping up investigation into the death of a number of outlaws to clarify the circumstances and reasons behind the incident.
