NIHR's support for expatriate workers hailed

Manama, June 7 (BNA): Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Said bin Mohammed Al-Faihani, met here today a number of heads of foreign diplomatic missions to Bahrain, in the presence of Deputy Chairman, Abdulla Al-Dirazi, and Acting Secretary-General, Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel. Al-Faihani lauded the important role played by the expatriate workforce through taking part in the kingdom’s economic and social development process, stressing the need for cooperation and coordination and between two sides to strengthen the protection of the human rights of expatriate workers and domestic helpers. He pointed out that the NIHR had recently opened a branch at the Expat Protection and Assistance Centre in Sehla, noting that the branch will deliver human rights assistance for expatriate workers, domestic helpers and their families. NIHR’s acting secretary-general explained that the branch will serve as a link between the NIHR and residents in order to achieve maximum levels of human rights protection, out of the NIHR’s belief that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Reform Project has strengthened the pillars of the civil state based on the principles of pluralism and respect for human rights of all. Heads of foreign diplomatic missions expressed sincere thanks to the NIHR for its interest in providing all kinds of human rights support to expatriate workers, lauding the opening of a specialised NIHR’s office in the Sehla centre.
