No Plans To Use Tamil For Announcement At Klia
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- The Transport Ministry has no plans to
make announcements in Tamil at the KL International Airport in Sepang as
passengers from India speak diverse dialects, the Senate was told Tuesday.
Deputy minister Abdul Rahim Bakri said besides Tamil, they also spoke
Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Telugu and other languages.
He said in response to a question by Senator Nallakaruppan s/o
Solaimalai during the question and answer session.
Abdul Rahim said most passengers from India were also conversant in English.
For the moment, he said, announcements at the KLIA were made in three
languages, Malay, English and Mandarin.
"Announcements in Arabic and Japanese are made only on certain seasons,"
he added.
