Office of the Ombudsman receives US delegation

Manama, Apr. 14 (BNA): A delegation of the US Congress employees today paid a visit to the headquarters of the Office of the Ombudsman at the Seef District. The visit is part of the training programmes and expertise exchange between the two sides. Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by the Director of International Cooperation and Development at the Office of the Ombudsman, Ghada Hameed Habib. She gave a video presentation about the Office of the Ombudsman’s role and terms of reference regarding the reception of complaints and assistance requests, as well as monitoring detention and reformation centres. She also reviewed with the delegation the information and statistics included in the Ombudsman’s annual reports over the past years. Ghada Habib highlighted the Office of the Ombudsman’s interest in enhancing its international cooperation on ways to strengthen human rights respect, and promote the principles of accountability and transparency.
