Official document forgery gang busted

BANGKOK, June 12 (TNA) -- Police have arrested a gang suspected of making and selling fake educational certificates and other official documents including firearms possession licenses and police and soldier ID cards. Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpal, commander of the 191 special branch police, told the press in Bangkok on June 11 that six people were arrested for the crime. They were Nithiphat Jaidee, Sathan Rodphan, Suriya Khamsongsee, Suphachai Chaiyanit, Praphatsorn Sairat and Jittima Inberd. According to the commander, the gang advertised their illicit services via Facebook and Line application in exchange for fees starting from 5,000 baht. Fake documents were produced at the photo shop of Mr Nithiphat in Samut Sakhon province and were then sent by mail. Pol Maj Gen Surachet said that his command seized more than 600 guns and over 20,000 bullets sold by mail in the past six months. Therefore, buyers turned to use fake gun possession licenses to buy firearms and legal shops. (END)
