Online gambling crackdown in Chon Buri

CHON BURI, Aug 22 (TNA) - Combined police-military forces raided an online gambling den in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district, arresting two persons for illegally operating an illegal online gambling and sports betting outlet. The officials found that the commercial building was opened as a computer game shop but online gambling software programmes were displayed on screens of all 30 computers. The shop also operated as a bookie for international football matches. A man and a woman, running the place were detained for questioning and initially charged for operating online gambling illegally, police said. Bang Lamung district chief said he sent investigators to inspect the shop following a tip-off before the raid last night. The shop had opened for about two weeks by both Thai and foreign capitalists. The authorities have expanded an investigation to crack down on this online gambling network, which have online gambling outlets nationwide. (TNA)
