Over 3,000 Scandinavian Tourists To Visit Langkawi Up To March 2012

LANGKAWI (Malaysia), Dec 19 (Bernama) -- Langkawi is anticipating the arrival of more than 3,380 tourists from the Scandinavian countries between now and March next year, according to the Langkawi Development Authority (Lada). Lada principal assistant manager for tourism Azmil Munif Bukhari said Sunday that the tourists are expected to arrive in 13 chartered flights of the Finnish airline, Finnair. The first flight arrived Saturday, he told Bernama. Azmil Munif said 53,062 tourists from Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway visited Langkawi last year. Langkawi is served daily by the scheduled flights of Malaysia Airlines (MAS), AirAsia, Firefly and Berjaya Air as well as Silk Air of Singapore. Langkawi, officially known as Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedahis an archipelago of 104 islands in the Andaman Sea, some 30 km off the mainland coast of northwestern Malaysia. The islands are a part of the state of Kedah, which is adjacent to the Thai border. -- BERNAMA
