Over 7,000 persons travel abroad for work in Aug

BANGKOK, Sept 2 (TNA) -- More than 7,000 Thai workers travelled to work in abroad in August and majority of them went to Taiwan, said Varanon Pitiwan, director-general of Employment Department. Official statistics showed that 7,130 persons travelled oversea last month, said Mr Varanon, adding that 2, 806 persons of the total went to Taiwan followed by Israel 525 persons and 346 persons to the United Arab Emirates. Eleven persons were stopped at the airport from travelling in August after they were found not to have proper licence to work in oversea, said Mr Varanon. Of the total 11 persons, nine were caught to travel to Bahrain and one each to Malta and Russia. Thai workers wishing to work oversea should carry proper employment licence in order to protect themselves from being cheat by fraudulent employment agencies, Mr Varanon suggested. (TNA)
