Padang Government Raises Fund For Palestine

Padang, W Sumatra, July 17 (Antara) - Padang municipal government will soon raise fund for Palestinian people as a form of cooperation and expression of concern to the Palestinians, said Padang vice mayor, Mahyeldi Ansyarullah. "Padang municipal government will immediately raise fund which will be donated to the Palestinian people this year," Mahyeldi said here on Wednesday, adding that the fund raising is held every the holy month of Ramadan. The fund raising is aimed at easing the burden of the Palestinian people, especially because Beit Lahiya Gaza and Padang are sister cities, he said. "The donation for Palestinian can be done by several ways among other things through mosques, minor mosques or directly to the Padang chapter of the National Committee for Palestinian People," Mahyeldi noted. According to him, Padang city administration is also considering to contribute alms fund to the Palestinian people. The total of money which will be contributed to the Palestinians will depend on results of the fund raising, he said, adding that last year, Padang city government contributed some one billion rupiah to the Palestinians.
