Pandegelang Asks For Immediate Implementation Of Toll Road Projects

PANDEGELANG, Lebak, Sept. 4 (Antara) - The district administration of Pandeglang, Banten, said it hopes that the central government would immediately implement plan to build toll road to support development of tourism special economic area (KEK). "We from the district administration and the people of Pandeglang are ready to support all activities toward the toll road construction project," Pandeglang Regeny Irna Narulita said here on Sunday. Irna said she was optimistic the central government through related ministry, would implement the toll road project as scheduled. "The phases (of construction) have been set, and I am convinced implementation would be carried out as scheduled," she said. The toll road project in Pandegelang is part of 83 kilometer long to be built by the central government passing through other districts in the province of Banten including Lebak. Irna said she hope if construction could not start this year work should begin early next year between Serang and Panimbang. Construction of the 83 kilometer toll road is to be carrie dout in three phases - the first section 26.5 km between Serang and Rangkas Bitung, in the regency of Lebak, the second section 33 km between Rangkas Bitung 24.41 km between Bojong and Panimbang. The toll road is to facilitate transport to and from Tanjung Lesung Tourism Special Economic Area (KEK) in Panimbang, that would contribute to Pandeglang economic development. The toll road project is estimated to cost Rp9.57 trillion going through three regencies Serang, Lebak and Pandeglang.
