Pathum Thani Model housing units handed over to people

PATHUM THANI, Sept 28 (TNA) - The first lot of housing units have been handed over to almost 100 households, who join the Pathum Thani Model to solve encroachment on public waterways. Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon and Social Development and Human Security Minister Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew visited the Kaew Nimitr community in Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang district to hand over house registration certificates of the low-cost housing units to 98 households. Kaew Nimitr is one of 16 communities, living along Khlong 1 canal, which made it difficult for the authorities to handle flood problems effectively. The Pathum Thani Model, which kicked off last year will offer them new homes for them to move into as part of the government to clear public waterways for tackling floods sustainably. Two-storey house models are available in two different sizes – 56 square metres and 63 square meteres. They cost around 272,000- 295,000 baht for 15-year loan with monthly installment of about 2,500- 3,000 baht. The project will help the poor to own houses legally and raise their living standard. Meanwhile, another 30 rai plot of land near Chiang Rak Yai canal opposite Thammasat University, Rangsit campus is allocated for the housing units for people, who will relocated from areas along Khlong 1 canal. Under the first phase, one of 12 buildings are now under construction to accommodate 23 households. All 12 three-storey buildings when finished will be new homes to 463 households. (TNA)
