Pemadam To Find Comprehensive Measure To Address Drug Mules Issue

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (Pemadam) is optimistic about finding a comprehensive measure to address the drug mules issue, especially among freshly graduated women in the country. Its deputy president, Mohd Najib Abdul Aziz, said two proposals on the issue would be presented by the Malaysian representatives at the 24th International Federation of Non-Governmental Organisations (IFNGO) World Conference scheduled to begin here on Wednesday. He said the drug mules issue was one of the huge problems involving today's youths, especially freshly graduated women, as they would easily fall victim to the international drug syndicate. "As excellent students who graduated with a first-class degree, these young women will look forward to the opportunities to work abroad. "The support from their parents, who are also eager to see them working abroad, is also among the reasons for their involvement as drug mules," he told Bernama here on Tuesday. The four-day conference is jointly organised by the Australian National Council On Drugs and Pemadam. Forty-three IFNGO member countries will participate in the conference which provides a forum for decision makers and professionals to address alcohol and drug-related issues with a particular focus on the Asian and Pacific regions. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
