People celebrate HM Queen’s birthday

BANGKOK, Aug 12 (TNA) -- The Thai military along with people nationwide on Saturday celebrate 85th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of late His Majesty King Bhumibol and the Mother’s Day. Deputy Prime Minister/ Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon led members of Forest Conservation Foundation in paying respects to HM the Queen in front of her portrait and wishing her good health and happiness on her 85th birthday. The ceremony was held at Bangkok’s army compound. Meanwhile, the First Army Region commander Lieutenant General Apirat Kongsompong, responsible for security in the Central region including Bangkok, chaired a ceremony in paying tribute to HM the Queen at the First Region Command headquarters. Senior officers from more than 80m government agencies along with a large amount of laymen paid respects to the portrait of HM the Queen at the ceremony. The candle-lighting ceremony to bless Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on the occasion of her birthday anniversary is schduled to be held today at 19.29pm at the central stage, Dusit Palace Royal Plaza. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha will participate in the candle-lighting ceremony to bless Her Majesty the Queen, deliver a message of blessing for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on behalf of all Thai people.
