Pertamina President Questioned By KPK

Jakarta, Jan 27 (Antara) - President director of state energy company PT Pertamina Karen Agustiawan was summoned again by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as witness in corruption case with former secretary general of the energy and mineral resources ministry Waryono Karno as suspect. "Karen will testify in the case of Waryono Karno," Karen`s lawyer Rudy Alfonso said at the KPK office here on Monday. Karen herself refused to talk to reporters . Earlier she was questioned in a related case with suspect former head of the upstream oil and gas regulator (SKK Migas) Rudi Rubiandini. KPK found US$200,000 in the bag of Waryono in a raid of his office following the arrest of Rudi who was caught redhanded receiving bribe money. The bills found in the bag of Waryono have the serial number with the dollar bills received by Rudi Rubiandini. Rudi told the court earlier he gave US$200,000 to lawmakers of Commission VII of the House of Representatives as Idul Fitri gifts. "I don`t know . Just wait as investigation is yet to take place. We will know later after the investigation," Karen`s lawyer Rudy said when asked if the investigation is related to Idul Fitri gift. Rudy said he was confident Pertamina had given no Idul Fitri gift to the lawmakers. "I assure you Karen had never bowed to such demand (for gift) although she had often received dismissal threat," he said. KPK already investigated Commission VII chairman Sutan Bhatoegana of the ruling Democratic Party and his deputy Zainuddin Amali on allegedly receiving Idul Fitri gift from Rudi Rubiandini. Sutan and Zainuddin denied the allegation. KPK had also ransacked the 13 places related to the allegation including the houses and office rooms of Sutan, Zainuddin and another lawmaker Tri Julianto as well as the working office of the Democratic faction at the House of Representatives. Waryono Karno was named a suspect on Dec. 9 , 2014 on charge of accepting bribe with a maximum punishment of life sentence.
