Jakarta, March 27 (ANTARA) - Police have already had identities of attackers that had killed four detainees in a penitentiary in Cebongan, Sleman, Yogyakarta recently.
"We have had information about them collected from witnesses but we cannot as yet be able to make them known to the public because it will still be used for further investigation. That is part of the investigation process," head of the National Police Command`s public information bureau, Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar, said here on Wednesday.
Boy confirmed that the attackers spoke in a certain local dialect in view of the fact that the incident occurred in Java but "that is part of the investigation. Dialects, posture, identities and equipment they used in the raid would certainly be studied. That is called crime scene investigation."
A group of 17 masked and armed men raided the penitentiary early last Saturday and killed four police detainees put there as suspects in the killing of a member of an army`s special force during a fight in Hugo`s Cafe in Sleman several days before.
The National Commission on Human Rights has condemned the attack as a serious human rights problem.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has already ordered the police and the military to cooperate in the investigation of the incident.
