Police try to find motive in massacre of village headman’s family in Krabi

KRABI, July 12 (TNA) -- The commander of the Special Branch Police arrived in the southern province of Krabi to investigate the murder of eight family members of a village head in Ao Luk district. Commander Suwat Chaengyodsook met the Krabi police chief and local detectives at the Krabi police head office to follow up investigation into the murder of village head Worayuth Sanglang and seven other family members including children in the night of July 10. Mr Worayuth was the head of Moo 1 village in Ban Klang sub-district of Ao Luk district. Pol Lt Gen Suwat also discussed the same issue via a video conference with Pol Maj Gen Nanthadet Yoinual, deputy commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 8. Police considered many issues as the possible motive of the massacre and have not ruled out any possible factor. Three people were injured in the family attack. The bodies of Mr Worayuth, his wife, three daughters and another relative were buried at the Ban Khao Ngam cemetery yesterday evening. Two other bodies were sent for autopsies in Surat Thani province where bullets were expected to be retrieved for examination. The murder happened when many gunmen in camouflage outfits arrived on two vehicles at Mr Worayuth’s house in the evening of July 10 and detained family members to wait for the village head to return home. The family head showed up at about 8pm. Then all victims were handcuffed and blindfolded. The gunmen shot them at around midnight. (TNA)
