PPP Remains Consistent To Coalesce

Jakarta, Oct 13 (Antara) - The United Development Party (PPP) will remain consistent to coalesce with the Red-and-White Coalition or KMP, although it failed to get a seat of leadership in the People`s Consultative Assembly and House of Representatives. "PPP is consistent with KMP, wherever the direction of KMP, PPP is there. PPP will always be together with the KMP in a win or lose situation," PPP general chairman Suryadharma Ali confirmed here on Monday. Suryadharma said, although his party had joined the Great Indonesian Coalition (KIH) during the election of the People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR), according to him it was only an emotional moment. "That is not the ideological spirit of PPP. The PPP`s ideological spirit is together with the KMP," he stressed. According to him, many things have made the PPP remained loyal to the KMP, for example KMP has really and purely struggled to establish Indonesia. Suryadharma further said that he will allow his party cadres if appointed by the presidential government of Jokowi-JK to become the cabinet member. "I will support if such option happens, but I remind that the PPP remains in KMP," the former religious affairs minister stated. Meanwhile on Thursday (Oct 9), deputy general chairman of PPP Hasyrul Azwar said that PPP will weigh an offer from president-elect Joko Widodo to fill a position in his cabinet. "An offer of a ministerial berth from Jokowi (Joko Widodo) would be considered an appreciation for PPP," he said in response to Jokowi`s recent statement on the issue. Although the PPP has not yet officially joined the Great Indonesia coalition (KIH) that supports Jokowi it has already been offered a ministerial post. On the other hand, it has got nothing in return from the KMP despite the fact that it had worked hard for it, both in the presidential election and during the election of leadership of the House of Representatives (DPR), Hasrul said.
