Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ On January 24, S.Batbold, Governor of the capital city and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, held a meeting with Loretta Hieber Girardet, Chief of Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). At the meeting, the sides discussed about preparations for Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) to be organized in July 16-19 in Ulaanbaatar city and an implementation of EU-funded project in Ulaanbaatar within the UNISDR’s campaign ‘Making Cities Resilient’. S.Batbold said, “The Ulaanbaatar city government is providing all-round supports to satisfy preparations to organize AMCDRR. We believe the conference will be productive. Since its enrollment to UNISDR’s campaign ‘Making Cities Resilient’ in 2016, the Ulaanbaatar municipality is focusing on reducing disaster risks. We are very grateful that Ulaanbaatar was selected one of 20 cities where EU-funded project is being implemented in the frame of the campaign. These days, P.Bayarkhuu, deputy governor in charge of infrastructure and ger area development, and specialists of National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia are attending ‘Training of Trainers on Making Cities Resilient: Developing and Implementing Disaster Risk Reduction Action Plans’ in Incheon, S.Korea.” Established in 2005, the AMCDRR is a biennial conference jointly organized by different Asian countries and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR).
