Bishkek, Oct. 5, 2018. /Kabar/. The 3rd International Issyk-Kul Forum “Chyngyz Aitmatov and Challenges of Modernity” started in Ala-Archa state residence. The event with the participation of more than 150 intellectuals from 25 countries of the world will continue tomorrow on the coast of the Kyrgyz pearl - Issyk-Kul Lake, and present itself as one of the main events in the cultural and political life of the country, being dedicated to the 90th anniversary of great writer and thinker Aitmatov. President Sooronbay Jeenbekov spoke at the official opening of the international platform, welcoming the guests with warm words. “I am glad to welcome you in the homeland of Chyngyz Aitmatov, hospitable Kyrgyz land. We are sincerely glad to be with you the days when the 90th anniversary of the great son of the Kyrgyz people, Chyngyz Torokulovich Aitmatov, is widely celebrated throughout the world and in Kyrgyzstan,” the Kyrgyz President began his speech. Referring to the history of this event, he noted that Aitmatov’s personality is always surrounded by intellectuals from all over the world. “32 years ago, in October 1986, on the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake —pearl of the Kyrgyz land — 17 world-famous intellectuals discussed the pressing problems of that time and the risks expected in the future. And today the conclusion of the first forum that the possibility of living together on Earth is shrouded in a crisis, that current problems are becoming increasingly difficult and solving them requires new ideas, new approaches and new planetary thinking is relevant,” Jeenbekov said. The President stressed that the Issyk-Kul Forum, initiated by the eminent son of the Kyrgyz people, offered the world a new response to the challenges of that time, gathering ideas on its platform that confirmed that the solution of the raised issues was not in the economy, not in technology or politics, but in changing consciousness of people. “The forum participants proved that a new way of thinking of people belonging to different cultures, preaching different religions, who carriers of different outlooks can save the humanity from a global catastrophe. They proved that despite the civilizational, national differences, the humanity can be saved only by joint actions and new thinking,” Jeenbekov continued. In addition, he emphasized that Aitmatov himself wrote about the choice of the location of meetings of intellectuals on the shore of Issyk-Kul — in the heart of Central Asia — as the most successful place where right ideas and thoughts meet. The man of genius explained that the fact that the Central Asian region is a sacred region, where different civilizations and cultures are closely intertwined.
