Prime Minister Of Qatar Will Visit Malaysia On Sunday

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 2 (Bernama) - The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Jassim will make an official four day visit to Malaysia beginning Sunday to strengthen friendship between leaders of both countries. A Wisma Putra (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) statement said Thursday, the second visit by the Prime Minister of Qatar was at the invitation of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak who visited Qatar on May 14. "The visit also aims to further strengthen the excellent bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and Qatar, especially in trade, investment and tourism," said the statement. Sheikh Hamad will be given an official welcome followed by a four eyes meeting between the two prime ministers, hold bilateral meeting between Malaysia and Qatar and an attend an official luncheon at the Prime Minister's official residence, Seri Perdana. He is also scheduled to have an audience with Malaysian King Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, attend Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2011) on Tuesday. The Prime Minister of Qatar will also make a personal visit to the legendary island the next day. Total bilateral trade between Malaysia and Qatar last year was RM1,298.9mil (USD403.4mil) compared to RM3,068mil (USD871.7mil the previous year. For Jan-Sept, bilateral trade between Malaysia and Qatar stood at RM3,316mil (USD1,094.6 mil). -- BERNAMA
