Psychiatrist:Shooting incidents are unlikely to occur in Thailand
BANGKOK, December 15 (TNA) - A leading Thai psychiatrist says that shooting incidents are unlikely to occur in Thailand, thanks to Thai laws which block youngsters' access to deadly weapons.
The Director of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Rajanagarindhar Institute (CAMRI), Dr. Taweesilp Witsanuyothin gave the comments on Saturday, following Friday's shooting incident in Newton Elementary School of the US Connecticut State, which claimed the lives of 28 people, 20 of whom were young children.
Dr. Taweesilp noted that such the behaviour of the gunman has usually occured in the Western Hemisphere, including the United States and Europe, due to people's easy access, legally, to weapons.
Dr. Taweesilp, however, praised the US government and media for not jumping into a conclusion for the cause of Friday's shooting spree, acknowledging that the US authorities concerned need more time to investigate into the cause of the shooting incident.(TNA)
