Public prosecutor demands arrest of former general staff chief

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Istanbul public prosecutor demanded arrest of former Chief of General Staff Gen. Ilker Basbug on Thursday. Public prosecutor with special authority Cihan Kansiz took the testimony of retired Gen. Basbug as a suspect under an investigation launched by Istanbul deputy chief prosecutor's office. Gen. Basbug was transferred to court with the demand of arrest on charges of leading an organization and attempting to eliminate the government of Republic of Turkey.
