Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology Celebrates World Standards Day

Doha, October 14 (QNA) - The State of Qatar, represented by Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology, participated with all member states of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in the celebration of the World Standards Day, which falls on Oct. 14 of each year.
The annual message of the main international organizations for standardization, issued on the occasion of the celebration of the World Standards Day, indicated that the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at addressing social imbalances, developing a sustainable economy, and slowing the rate of climate change, require the cooperation of many public and private partners, and the use of all available tools, including international standards and conformity assessment.
At the conclusion of their annual message and in the context of the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the main international organizations for standardization pointed to the absolute necessity of addressing the SDGs in an inclusive way, to strengthen societies, making them more resilient and more equitable. They emphasized the necessity of joining them to highlight the importance of SDGs to rebuild in an appropriate manner, calling for uniting together in order to accelerate the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development by setting specification for these goals.
World Standards Day is an opportunity to pay tribute to the tireless efforts of thousands of experts around the world to develop voluntary technical agreements that are published as international standards.
The commemoration of this year's World Standards Day comes under the slogan 'Our Shared Vision for a Better World,' indicate that the entire standards system is built on collaboration, adding that by working together, it is possible to provide realistic solutions to overcome the challenges of achieving sustainability. From this point of view, the major international organizations for standardize have been celebrating the World Standards Day every year to highlight the role played by international standards in the success of the SDGs.
