Raja Muda Invites New Zealand Tourists To Visit Perlis
From Adnan Jahaya
DUNEDIN (NEW ZEALAND), Feb 3 (Bernama) -- The Crown
Prince (Raja Muda) of Malaysian Northern State of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, has extended an
invitation to New Zealand tourists to visit Perlis (north Malaysia) when they
come to Malaysia.
He said Perlis has much natural beauty and is famous for its fascinating
natural landscapes.
Launching a Perlis food promotion at the Rainforest Restaurant here last
night, he said the diversity of agro-based tourism products and eco-tourism is
certainly attracting foreign tourists, including from New Zealand.
Also present at the launch were the Raja Puan Muda, Tuanku Hajah Lailatul
Shahreen Akashah Khalil, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (Malaysia University of
Perlis - UniMAP) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin and the Director
of Education Malaysia in New Zealand, Dr Rosli Mohammed.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said that for those interested in nature and
exploration, Perlis offers Gua Kelam, one of two caves in the world which form a
natural tunnel in which there is a stream. The other cave is in Brazil.
In addition, Gua Wang Burma, a cave full of beauty, is suitable for visitors
who love outdoor activities and great natural beauty, he said.
Tourists can also visit the herbal park, the Timah Tasoh lake, the
"harumanis" mango farm and the snake and reptile park, he said.
He said tourists can also enjoy an international shopping experience when
they visit Padang Besar and Wang Kelian as well as enjoy delicious grilled fish
in Kuala Perlis.
The Perlis food promotion will run for two weeks during which tourism
brochures will be distributed to customers of the Rainforest Restaurant.
Restaurant owner Shirley Wong, 48, from Miri, Sarawak, said she was happy
her outlet was selected as the venue to launch the campaign and hoped that this
will help introduce Perlis cuisine to the local population.
She said the restaurant offered "halal" food, and added that this is an
advantage in attracting customers, especially Muslims.
This is the second Perlis food promotion in New Zealand. The first was
launched, also by Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, at the Malaysia Delights Restaurant in
Christchurch last Sunday.
