Royal cremation ceremony to run for five days

BANGKOK, Sept 27 (TNA) – The Cabinet on Tuesday acknowledged the details of the royal cremation ceremony of His Majesty late King Bhumibol, scheduled from Oct 25-29 while the public holiday is declared only on Oct 26 to allow people to participate. Gen Prayut Chan-ocha said after the Cabinet meeting that on the first day, the royal merit making ceremony will be held at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall at 5 pm. On Oct 26 at 7 am., the royal urn will be moved from the throne hall to Sanam Luang ceremonial ground, where the royal cremation will be held at 10 pm. On Oct 27, a royal ceremony will be held to collect the royal relics and a royal making rite will be held for the royal relics at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall on the next day. On the last day of Oct 29, the royal ceremony will be held to enshrine the royal relics at the Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall while the ashes of the late King will be enshrined at Wat Rajabopit and Wat Bowon Niwet. The government extended the mourning period for the government sector, which will end on Oct 12 for another 15 days to Oct 27. The mourning period will end on Oct 28. (TNA)
