Royal cremation commemorative coins can be ordered from tomorrow
BANGKOK, Aug 21 (TNA) -- The Treasury Department will start to receive orders for commemorative coins to mark the royal cremation ceremony of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej from tomorrow onwards.
Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong said the coins that the department would produce would be available in gold (at 50,000 baht), silver (2,000 baht), copper (3,000 baht) and nickel (100 baht). There will be 99,999 gold coins, 399,999 silver coins, 39,999 copper coins, and 39,999,999 nickel coins.
The front side will bear the picture of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the Royal House of Chakri robe and his name, and the reverse will show the picture of the royal crematorium and Thai texts on the royal cremation and its date.
Treasury director-general Patchara Anuntasilpa said people can order the commemorative coins at financial institutions including banks nationwide between 8.30am and 4.30am on weekdays from Aug 22 to Sept 30. (TNA)
