RTAF marks World No Tobacco Day
BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) - The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) held several activities to mark the World No Tobacco Day today and to encourage its personnel to quit smoking.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Surasak Toongtong presided over the World No Tobacco Day event, entitled “Campaign for the Right of Non-Smokers” at the Royal Thai Air Force headquarters today.
Several activities are held to mark the event including exhibitions on the danger of tobacco smoke, smoking cessation techniques and seminars on life after quitting smoking and rights of non-smokers.
In an attempt to cut the number of smokers, the RTAF established a sub-committee to campaign for the RTAF personnel to quit smoking in 2009.
The committee is responsible for rolling out a working plan to seek the budget for running projects with an aim to make the RTAF a smoke-free workplace by 2019.
A smoking cessation clinic was set up for the RTAF personnel to use the service twice a month. (TNA)
