Sakon Nakhon airport reopens after flood recedes

SAKON NAKHON, Aug 1 (TNA) - Sakhon Nakhon airport has reopened on Tuesday morning following four-day closure due to flooding. Many passengers came to the airport to board the first flight to Bangkok on the first day of the reopening while the first Don Mueang – Sakon Nakhon flight also landed at the airport this morning. The Department of Airports’ Director-General, Darun Saengchai, boarded the plane to create confidence among passengers on the safety standard. Safety checks and tests were carried out on navigation and electricity systems and the runway strength before the airport reopened for service. Meanwhile, the flood situation in the Sakon Nakhon municipality has improved and the floodwater drainage into the Nong Han Lake, the main city lake can be sped up as the water in the lake, has dropped by 11 centimetres, according to the Royal Irrigation Department.
