'Save The Children' Launches Campaign To Stop The Killing In Syria

KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 (Bernama) -- 'Save the Children', an internationally active non-governmental organisation that promotes children's rights provides relief and helps support children in developing countries has launched a campaign to increase global pressure to stop the killing in Syria and ensure that children have full access to humanitarian aid. Its chief executive, Jasmine Whitbread, said the organisation was getting aid to children who had escaped Syria to neighbouring countries but it could not reach those still in the country. "We need people around the world to join us in calling for an immediate end to the violence so that we can get urgent help to children in Syria," she said in a statement Tuesday. The campaign asks people to text their support for an immediate halt to the violence in Syria and calls for open access for humanitarian agencies across the country. People can join the campaign by signing an online petition at http://bit.ly/syriacrisis or tweeting their support on social media by using the hashtag #stopkilling. -- BERNAMA
