Security centre set up for royal cremation

BANGKOK, Sept 29 (TNA) – A security and traffic centre, set up for the royal cremation ceremony will start operation on Oct 1 while about 200,000 people are expected to attend the ceremony at Sanam Luang. Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon said after presiding over the meeting of security and traffic management plan for the royal cremation ceremony of the King Bhumibol Adujyadej. He said signs will be placed for the public to show them the way and traffic arrangement is planned for the royal families and VIP guests. Walkways and traffic routes will be clearly separated and many roads will be closed on the actual day. He said about 250,000 people are expected to go to take part in the main ceremony at Sanam Luang. If the provided space is full, crowds of people will be directed to designated crematorium replicas nearby. During the cremation ceremony, about 70,000 officials will be deployed to oversee the area around Sanam Luang, excluding volunteers. (TNA)
