Sehati scheme on good track

Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa communicated directly with the public via Instagram feature InstaLive. He reiterated the Government’s commitment to shoulder the costs of health insurance for all citizens, announcing that services would be expanded and improved for the sake of patients.
The one-hour session which started yesterday (Sunday) at 00:4 PM was moderated by media figure Sami Hejris. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa revealed that tangible progress had been achieved on the path to start implementing the National Insurance Scheme (Sehati), expressing that the Council of Representatives would endorse the law.
He said that no financial or therapeutic cap would be put on citizens’ treatment, adding that Bahrain nationals would receive medical treatment at the Government-run hospitals. He said that the National Health Insurance Scheme (SEHATI) would cover chronic and incurable diseases, adding that overseas’ treatment would be more accessible under the umbrella of the Overseas’ High Medical Commission.
"The law reflects the keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier on enhancing the standard of health services in Bahrain", he said.
