Serbian President Confirms His Country's Desire To Expand Cooperation With Iraq

BAGHDAD / NINA / Serbian President, Tomislav Nikolić confirmed his country's desire to expand the cooperation with Iraq, especially in the economic field.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry said, "Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić at the presidency building in the capital Belgrade, who stressed that Serbia stands by Iraq."
During the meeting, Serbian president stressed "the importance of coordination and security cooperation and information exchange to eliminate terrorists and prevent their spread, noting that his country provides essential supplies to Iraqi refugees who pass through Serbian territory, stressing that there is confidence in Iraq's ability to overcome the current crisis and achieve stability and development.
For his part, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said: the Iraqi-Serbian relations will always remain strong and based on solidarity and cooperation, especially in light of the challenges facing the world, and praised the positions of Serbia in supporting Iraq in His war against terrorism, and His candidacy for the Human Rights Council.
He added: We are still in need for investment, and Serbia is eligible country for its positive from Iraq , calling to sign more MoUs in various fields to support the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of intelligence and security coordination between the two countries.
He pointed out that "Iraq is facing a global war against terrorists (Daesh), who came from more than one hundred countries and the peoples of the world should be proud of the great victories achieved in Iraq, as the Iraqi people's victory is a victory for all the peoples of the world, as they are defending Iraq, and on behalf of the countries of the world, directed an invitation to the President of the Republic of Serbia to visit Iraq.
During the meeting, they discussed relations between Baghdad and Belgrade, and ways to enhance cooperation in all fields, and to consult on regional issues, and international issues of common concern. / End
