Solo To Built Airport Railway To Facilitate Air Passengers

Solo, Nov 1 (Antara)- Construction of rail track linking the Balapan railway station and the Adi Soemarmo airport in Solo will start next year. The project would need land clearing over 5,000 square meters of land in the city, according to an official. "No less than 5,000 square meters of land in the city of Solo would be cleared needed for the rail track. The plan is land clearing would be next year, Solo (Surakarta) Mayor FX Hadi Rudyatmo said here on Monday. Hadi said the land clearing plan was discussed at a coordinating meeting of the city administration, the regency administrations of Boyolali and Karanganyar. "The land clearing would be the responsibility of the central government. The city administration would only facilitate the process of lanc clearing," the mayor said. The construction would be handled by three state companies - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), PT Angkasa Pura I and PT Adhi Karya. Earlier, Operation Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Yaka Sulistya Wijanarka said the company has prepared location for the railway station in the Adi Soemarmo airport. "The station would be built in the west of the airport passenger terminal in airport area," Yaka said, adding the station would have two floors.
