South Korean President visits Thailand
BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) - South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and his wife Kim Yoon-ok are paying an official visit to Thailand from November 9-11, during which South Korean and Thai leaders will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on raising strategic partnership between the two Asian countries.
Upon their arrival in Thailand on Friday, President Lee and his wife were welcome and received as the official guests of the Thai government by Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Pongthep Thepkanjana and his wife.
Apart from bilateral discussions, the visiting South Korean President and Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra were set to witness the inking of the MOU on elevating the two allied countries' strategic partnership on November 10.
Besides, the visiting South Korean President is also scheduled to visit Thailand's water management projects, including the Lad Pho Project, one of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's royal initiatives, and to also meet with Chairman of the Thai government-appointed Strategic Committee for Reconstruction and Future Development (SCRF) Veerapongse Ramangkura, who is a former deputy Thai prime minister and a former deputy finance minister, before returning to Seoul on November 11.
