S'porean Couple Shares Daily Necessities With M'sians At Doorstep

SINGAPORE, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- "We had experienced it before... sleeping rough... so we understand what some Malaysians are going through here." This is according to Kamisah Sooki, a Singaporean who generously distributed daily necessities to Malaysians Wednesday night. She and her husband placed the items in front of the door of their house around 8 pm before announcing it on the Facebook page of Malaysia-Singapore Border Crossers which has almost 70,000 members. Kamisah, 55, added to the food supply an hour later after realising the overwhelming response. When contacted by Bernama, Kamisah, who works as a security officer, said she had also been separated from her four children in Malaysia since the border between the two countries was tightened due to COVID-19 in March this year. "I have rented a house in Kampung Melayu Majidee. Every week, we will go to Johor Bahru. At the moment, my youngest child lives there. “Every three months, I will visit my three other children each in Kota Bharu, Kelantan; Kulim, Kedah; and Kota Tinggi, Johor. "So I really understand the feeling of being separated from families. I also miss my children and grandchildren,” said Kamisah, who is renting at Block 180C, Marsiling Road. -- BERNAMA
