STUDENT SOLDIER REGISTRATION TO BEGIN ON MARCH 1

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The registration for the 2018 'Student-Soldier' program begins tomorrow, March 1. The Military Staff of the capital city held a press conference on February 28 to make the announcement. Military service is a mandatory requirement for application to public service in Mongolia. The 'Student-Soldier' is a two-month military program that enables students to join the army, with an aim to enhance their physical and mental strengths with military education. Students who enrolled in the program are eligible to apply for public positions without having to serve one year in the army. Over a thousand students are expected to partake in the program this year, which runs from June 15 to August 15. The program is being organized in 13 aimags in addition to the capital city. The 'Student – Soldier' program was launched in 2014 at the initiative of the then President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian Armed Forces.
