Tangerang's Lake Situ To Be Converted Into Tourist Zone

Tangerang, Banten, April 15 (Antara) - The Tangerang city administration in Baten province will soon convert Lake Situ area into a tourist zone, according to Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah. "We are going to turn the lake into a tourist zone without eliminating its functions as a source of water conservation," the mayor confirmed here on Tuesday. Situated at Kelapa Indah village in Tangerang sub-district, Lake Situ has hitherto been functioning as a source of water conservation and for fishing by the local community. Arief noted that Tangerang city is not a saleable natural tourist destination, and therefore the lake will be managed in such a way so as to become a water tourism area for the local people to enjoy. Besides this, he asserted that the conversion of the lake into a tourist zone based on an environmentally related concept is part of Tangerang city administration`s program to make the city livable.
