TATIUC To Produce Skilled Workers To Replace Foreign Maids
KEMAMAN (Terengganu, Malaysia), Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Tati University College (TATIUC) is currently providing a special module to train skilled workers in the field of household management to reduce dependence by Malaysians on foreign maids.
TATIUC Rector, Dr Mohamad Rozailan Mamat said the special module was designed after a request by the Human Resource Ministry that emphasised on technical and safety aspects in the house to the students.
"TATIUC is responsible to train and supply local skilled workers to be House Managers, which are expected to be a preferred choice by Malaysians to help them in daily routines such as ironing and washing clothes as well as cleaning up the house.
"So far, we have recieved encouraging applications especially from Terengganu," he told reporters after the presentation of certificates to 170 TATIUC students for the 2009-2011 session, here on Thursday.
After finishing their studies, the household management students will provide professional services to employers under the supervision of a company, which will be appointed by the ministry.
Dr Mohamad Rozailan said the course was expected to start before May, with the first in-take of 50 students who would be divided into two groups.
